PonyBabe's 24 Hour Outfit

PonyBabe's 24 Hour Outfit

You had me at "Sustainable Fashion." The description of this Kickstarter piqued my interest but when I checked out the page and saw the clothes - oh yes I am SO IN. This collection is scratching me right where I itch. Comfy flowy pieces that transition from lounging to being out in the world - plus they're fairly manufactured out of organic fabrics. Yes, yes, yes, yes. I want all of it.

Science Wide Open: Children's Books about Women in Science

Science Wide Open: Children's Books about Women in Science

Science Wide Open is a series of children's books that not only makes science fun for kids, but does so by featuring important women scientists in history. Encouraging all children to explore science while empowering little girls to know they can be anything? Yea that's a project I can get behind. Here's the description from the campaign page:  "This is a series that... First, explains and teaches some basic concepts in chemistry, biology and physics in simple and memorable terms by using the natural questions and curiosity of a young child. Second, does so by highlighting some of the mind blowing scientific advancements made by women scientists throughout history."

SafariSeat

SafariSeat

The Safari Seat is a wheelchair designed for use in rural deeloping communities. The designs for the chair are open source, meaning they'll be made available for free to anyone who needs them. The device itself can be built out of old bicycle parts in community workshops, meaning the chairs will be easy to make and to repair! Supporting this project and providing mobility to someone who needs it is enough to get me to contribute, but there are some pretty appealing rewards too. The Safari Seat team has partnered with some Kenyan artisans to offer some really beautiful handmade rewards like jewelry, belts, and more.

Grow Curious

Grow Curious

I love spending time in my little garden. I have two raised garden beds full of veggies and herbs, and an entire home full of house plants. When I was just getting started with a little cactus on the windowsill of my bedroom in my parents' house, I came across YouGrowGirl. The website is incredibly informative but still totally accessible. The creator, Gayla Trail, has since written four books, and I own them all. I've been at it for over ten years but I still consider myself a beginner, and I refer to her books ALL THE TIME. Grow Curious promises to be just as good, but less of a how-to-garden book than a tool to help readers form a deeper connection with their garden through guided activities. I can not wait to get my hands on it.

Sseko Designs

Sseko Designs

I've written about Sseko Designs a few times before, when I was raving about their convertible sandals, and praising their bucket bag as one of my favorite things (still totally true!) Through their Kickstarter campaign, backers can create custom designed sandals. Choose your silhouette, material, color, accessories, everything that goes into your handmade sandals. What I love most about Sseko is that they employ women who are earning money to go to University. Not only does Sseko pay them a wage, but they also match the funds that each woman has saved by at least 200% in the form of a scholarship. I think the coolest part of this project is that each backer will be communicating directly with the woman making the shoes. I think having that connection will make wearing the sandals that much more special.

Happy birthday to the man whose framed portrait sits right next to our wedding photo on the mantel. And always will. #PaulNewman #NewmansOwn @jd.holeinthewall
This kiddo is getting ready for knee surgery #2 in a few days. That means we’ll be spending some time in #Guelph. Who has some good suggestions for things to do while we’re there? @visitguelph #guelphontario
Five years ago @trey.wydysh and I moved into my grandparents’ home and unearthed a trunk of letters that my grandfather wrote to my grandma over the course of WW2. I have waited five years to do something with them, so this past weekend I bought a domain and started to transcribe the letters. I have already learned so much about my grandparents when they were young, and I can’t wait to share the letters. This one has a P.S. in Morse code that says “I still love you.” Grandpa was in the Army’s signal corps. Amazing. Follow along at @seymourlovesfannie. #LoveLetters #WW2 #💏
I spent the final week of 2018 completely incapacitated. While I was physically unable to leave bed, this magnanimous creature went above and beyond the call of a husband. He brought me mugs of tea what felt like every 30 seconds. He made made me soup, and did laundry, vacuumed the entire house, dropped what he was doing to schlep me to Immediate Care. He got up at all hours of the night to refill my water bottle, bring me medicine, and whatever else I asked. And he did all this without a single grumble or complaint. I am so very grateful to have @trey.wydysh in my life. I do not believe in making resolutions, but I do plan to spend 2019 striving to be worthy of this man’s love.
It was a very herbal Christmas. #Herbalism #herbalist
